We need your payment information because visiting a therapist is like visiting any other healthcare provider. Your insurance may help you get services at a reduced cost or even no cost, but you may be responsible for a co-pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if there is insurance interference?

If an insurance company denies your claim, SonderMind will still fully reimburse you for the session without delay. We will then follow up with the client and insurance company to take care of the issue. All you have to do is focus on clients, You will not need to worry or be involved with insurance negotiations or problems.

Do all my clients pay the same amount for each session?

No. The amount your client pays will be dependent on their insurance plan and carrier. It will also depend on the length of the session and CPT code being used for the session.

If my clients have questions about their insurance, will I be responsible for answering them?

No. You are not required to answer questions about your client's insurance, in fact, we recommend you don't. If your client has questions about the amount SonderMind billed them, you can direct them to the SonderMind team. If their question relates to their insurance plan directly, we recommend they call the customer service number on the back of their insurance card.

What is the provider payout rate?

Payout rates vary based on license type, location, and CPT codes.

What is the Provider Portal?

The Provider Portal is a lightweight EHR system. Within the portal, you will be able to accept new clients, schedule them on your calendar, submit claims, see your payment history, receive support, record session notes, and more. Once you sign the Provider Agreement, a Provider Coach will help you learn everything you need to know about this software.

Is the Provider Portal HIPAA compliant?

Yes. SonderMind's Provider Portal is HIPAA compliant.

Do all my clients need to be added to the Provider Portal?

No. If you currently have self-pay clients that you would like to keep as self-pay, you absolutely can do that. We do not require you to use the Provider Portal for existing clients, or any clients that you do not find through SonderMind. Please feel free to continue to use whatever EHR you've been using for your other clients.

I want to add some clients to the SonderMind Provider Portal, can I do that?

Yes. You always have the option to transfer existing clients to the SonderMind system. You will easily be able to do this yourself.

How do you choose which clients get sent to me?

We match clients based on a variety of factors, including location, specialty, schedule, availability, and insurance carrier. We use your Therapist Profile, to determine which clients are most compatible with you.

If my schedule is full can I stop receiving new clients?

It’s your practice. If you would like to stop receiving new client requests, you can turn off "Accepting" in the Provider Portal. This means you can turn your new client requests on and off whenever you please.

What if I receive a client that is not a great fit for me? Am I required to keep them?

No. We never ask you to do anything that would make you uncomfortable. If you would like one of your clients to be rematched with a different therapist, you can simply click "Rematch" in the Provider Portal, and feel guilt-free knowing that your client will be rematched with another dedicated and passionate mental health professional.
